This thing bothers the hell outta me! Any attempt to converse with Google Assistant causes this, not just attempting to send someone a message. After this, Google Assistant no longer responds to my calls. OnePlus 7t, latest everything.

Exactly the same here on Note 9 with Android 10. So frustrating! Wish I could roll back to Pie as it this is not the only trouble this update has caused me.

Same problem here, Galaxy S9 plus and the problem started after I did the official upgrade to Android 10 yesterday. Also, I found another problem. When I ask it Android Auto to navigate to one of my contacts that has a address it tells me it can find that person. Always worked in the past when I would say it, wish I never upgraded to version 10.

Same here. Extremely frustrating. When I get messages, AA will play them, but when I go to respond, I keep getting told "your internet connection is not stable at the moment". I can see my signal strength is full, and am on 4G(LTE). Other things like Spotify / Google Podcasts work fine.

Update.... Turns out I was a bit previous with the below message. Basically it worked fine for 12 hours only! It is back to being more annoying than ever. I'm regularly in the car for 3 hours a day, so being able to respond to all my messages whilst driving was a big positive. Now however, it is a great source of frustration. I'm not the kind of person that uses foul language. However, every time I hear "this Internet connection isn't stable at the moment" or something similar, I find the air is blue with the tirade of expletives that involuntarily escape from my mouth in a torrent of abuse towards this app! Please please please get this resolved ASAP.
Original message: Mine seems to have self-cured as of yesterday. Which makes almost as little sense as it suddenly misbehaving in the first place. I had unistalled all updates and turned off auto-updates on all possiblly connected apps, ie. AA, Google, Assistant etc. Anyone else's started behaving again out of the blue?

Same here. Assistant won't engage via voice command, button on steering wheel works. I speak my message, Google reads it back & asks if I want to send or change, I say send and immediately Google says "the internet is unavailable or unstable," and shuts down. Seems all the other apps work, phone, maps, news, weather, calendar... It's only messaging. This started immediately following the Android 10 update.

Same exact issue with Samsung Galaxy Note 9 on official OTA Android 10. Vehicle is a 2019 Golf R.
I do notice a dialog immediately after plugging in that says something about allowing data access. The problem is that AA on the phone immediately launches and covers/dismisses the dialog.

Same basic problem. On two phones, one Samsung Galaxy S9+, one S9, started with Samsungs recent upgrade to Android 10, happening on GMC Acadia 2017 and 2019 Subaru Outback. Error message sometimes says internet unstable, some times says internet not working. All other Android Auto functions seem to work. Tried many common fixes on phone.

Fast solution: Downgrade to Android 9 (Pie) with ODIN tool. Check these website https://sfirmware.com/
Download the right firmware of your device/country, download ODIN Flash
Tool. One hint: Don´t use the HOME_CSC, because last app updates
fitting only to Android 10 so you will get a boot loop, use CSC for
factory reset. You will find every instructions how to do this on the
mention site and tutorials in YT also. Be aware about loosing your
warranty of you device probably!

I am having this issue and went so far as to factory reset my phone (after determining that the phone was the problem by experiencing the issue in a rental car as well) without success.
Additionally, I now see a new notification regarding my USB. It "allows" me to select options as to what I want to do with my USB connection, and one of the choices mentions AA, but when I select it, the car's AA display goes blank, reloads, and the option is deselected.
I'm hoping this info helps your team troubleshoot.

I have a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic. I had to download the Android Auto app on my phone for the music, hands free phone and text capabilities. It all worked perfectly, and then my phone updated recently. I cannot ever send a text now. Every time I try, I get a whiny voice come on that says, "This internet connection isn't stable right now" and it stops the process. I can have a full signal on my wifi and it doesn't work. I get the same message. I can have full bars showing on my data connection and I get the same message. Also, now the voice activation, "OK Google" or "Hey Google" no longer work. I was going to deleted and re-download the app, but since the update I cannot delete it anymore. Any ideas?

I have a Galaxy S9 Plus which I have absolutely LOVED until this One UI 2.0 update. I too am having this issue, I also have a brand New Hyundai Kona and I was loving the completely seamless integration with my phone and car, I was completely hands free. Now not only does Google Assistant NOT work with Android Auto, when I use my mic button on the steering wheel to get Google to wake up, I will say something like "send a message to my wife." it will go through the whole process and then give me the "this internet connection is not strong enough at the moment" error or it will give me this error somewhere during the process. I have not been able to send a single message since this update. I am also having memory issues on my phone as I have seen others complain about. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASEEEEE fix these issues. My phone which was virtually perfect until now, is useless for some of the main things I need it for!!

can you please explain how a bug like this can happen. It's not possible that such a serious bug doesn't show up in your tests (?or ?). As nice as an update is, but something like this should not happen. Then just leave the update.
I have the same problem with all text messages, no matter if WhatsApp or SMS etc. If I reinstall everything, the whole thing works once and then I always get the error message.
Do you have any idea how long it takes to fix this error ?? Would be nice to get a short statement about it.

To save people time, there are no workarounds unless you want to downgrade to Android Pie (9) - I have not tried that -- so no guarantee that works. I can sit in my car in my garage and connect to my home wifi (very stable and reliable) and still get the unstable internet connection (or not strong enough) issue when I try to send a dictated text via android auto. I have a Galaxy S9+ and the problem started with the recent Android 10 upgrade. I guess I am going to have to wait for a fix. Highly annoying.

Same error message, but it only happens when attempting to send or reply to a text. I can make and receive calls fine, play music, use Google maps with no issue. Only outgoing texts. Has anyone else noticed that the voice that gives the error message sounds slightly more "robotic" than the normal Google Assistant? Strange...

Judging by the created and resolved dates on some of the issues listed as "recently addressed" in the Android Auto Known Issues post, it seems like we'll be waiting a while:
Those were the two that seemed to be in Google's direct control. Seems like between 2.5 and 6 months is reasonable in their book. I'm a developer and if my team broke a significant feature in our production application, the expectation would be a resolution in days or weeks, not months.

Exactly the same here, ever since updating my Note 9 to Android 10. This is with a 2016 Honda Accord EXL, in which Android Auto used to work. Now it will not send any texts at all. Just as the OP says, it will respond to my initial voice command to send a text, "Sure, text Joe Blow, what's the message," but then either: (a) as I start to dictate the message it will interrupt and say, "Internet connection is not strong enough (or not stable) at this time" and end the process; or (b) I will dictate the message, the colored lights linger for a moment on the screen, and then the process ends with no further response. EVERY TIME. I am able to use my phone and send a text just fine, however.
The same thing often happens when trying to place a phone call, but not always. Phone Model: SM-N960U1; Android Build: QP1A.190711.020.N960U1UEU3DTA5; Android Auto version: 5.0.500224-release. After I updated to Android 10, I cleared the cache on my phone. Google maps still largely works with Android Auto, though I sometimes have to repeat the voice command, "Navigate to X."

Most people with this problem own a samsung device and have this problem since the last software update. I also found out, that i'm not able to flick the assistants on/off switch in the AA settings. It results in an error message. Also when my phone is connected to my house-wifi AA is able to sent whatsapp messages without a problem.
