Amazon Music playing wrong song

Hello,
Prior to the Android Auto update at the end of last year, Amazon Music was working fine in Android Auto. Ask the assistant "Play Ruin by Lamb of God on Amazon Music" and it would play Ruin. "Play Handclap by Fitz and the Tantrums" and it would play Handclap. Unfortunately, after the update, Amazon Music started playing the wrong song every time. "Play Ruin by Lamb of God on Amazon Music" and it would play Hail to the King by Avenged Sevenfold. "Play Handclap by Fitz and the Tantrums" and it would play some random song by Billie Eilish. These results were 100% repeatable. It always plays the same incorrect song.

I have two android phones. Samsung S9+ is running Android 9. Samsung S10+ is running Android 10. Both phones have Android Auto 4.9.594934-release. I just updated both Amazon Music apps to 16.5.7. I had been having this problem in both phones, but it is now fixed in the S9+ (which has AU as a separate app) but it is still broken in the S10+ (which has AU integrated in the operating system).

Has anyone else seen this issue? Any ideas why the Amazon update has fixed the issue on Android 9 but not Android 10? This is very frustrated because I want my wife to be able to use Android Auto, but she will not if she cannot play the songs she wants....

Thanks
mike

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your feedback. We are happy to report that the Amazon Music team has applied a fix for this issue. Please update to the latest available versions of the Google app and Amazon Music app, which should solve the problem.

Please note: According to Amazon Music, when you request a specific song, you will hear the exact song only if you have the Unlimited plan. With the Prime or Free plan, Amazon Music will play a station related to the artist / album requested.

Thanks!

I have the same problem. Even when selecting the song manually in music it then plays whatever it wants. Only works correctly for the first song selected after a fresh reboot  of my phone

This is getting really old, I don't see why this can't be fixed by now.

Just upgraded software on my Pioneer NEX and same problem. But using the workaround by using Alexa Car Mode works well enough. I can still use Google maps via Android Auto interface. But now steering wheel seek control triggers wrong Google playlist. I have to seek using phone car mode.

I think it's about who controls the interface....finger-pointing between Amazon and Google.

I have been having the same issue for at least a year. I am using a Pioneer NEX 4100 head unit and the problem started on my Samsung S10 5G and continues with my Samsung Fold 3. When I press the Microphone icon on my head unit and tell it to play any song on Amazon Music, it either plays nothing or plays a random song not even close to what i asked for. I have tried bring up Amazon Music first or leaving it on another music app and it doesn't help.  I have updated the head unit to the latest firmware and have all the latest updates for my phone and apps. Please Help...

This issue is still not resolved.  I'm starting to think this is a android auto issue as the song will play fine just as long as android auto is not running.

Same for me. It used to work. Now, it just plays what it wants.

had exactly this issue this morning

Me: Alexa Play Duran Duran on Amazon Music *dont judge me, I was feeling nostalgic!*
A: plays A-Ha ' Take On Me'
Me: Alexa play A-ha Take on Me on Amazon Music
A: Plays Micheal Jackson ' Billie Jean'
Me: Alexa Play Micheal Jackson Billie Jean on Amazon Music
A: plays Human League 'Dont you want me?'

At that point I gave up and played Pretty Reckless, which strangely plays OK

Voice requesting play xyz song by xyz artist from Amazon music.  Or any variationm of these parameters, and it replies correctly, asking Amazon music to play xyz by xyz... Then plays a completely different artist and track.  Cleared cache of all apps, cleared apps, uninstalled android auto and Amazon music.  Tried different cables (lame but done), even rebuilt phone.  No joy.  Just doesn't work.  Updates seem to have broken this very required feature.  If asking hey Alexa via Amazon app on mobile (plugged into car) the command works.  So it is definitely the interaction/Comms between AAuto and AMusic.

It's been going on for a couple of years now.  It's never going to be fixed.  Google has no interest in making it easy for us to use an Amazon service.  It wouldn't surprise me if this was intentional.

I dropped Amazon Music a couple years ago in favor of Spotify for this reason. I thought it was fixed. Went back to Amazon Music (paid for a full year) and it is no better at all. I don't know exactly what's going on but it appears that any AA request starts playing some song that happens to be in a similar genre that is already in the very limited playlists that may appear in AA. I've fooled around with this and that seems to be the case. It's not an entirely random track that appears...the track that plays is kind of "close but no cigar"...as it seems like it is TRYING to match something, but only from a real small list of stuff it can see. I don't think Google Assistant has access to the entire Amazon Music catalog. Whose fault is this? I'm thinking Amazon.

I have the same issue, a workaround I found was to go to settings in the Amazon music app on your phone, select music settings and enable "hands free with Alexa". Now when I have my music playing in the car instead of pressing the Google voice assistant I just shout Alexa (if your music is loud you might need to shout loud) and ask for a song that way...it works but it would be nice if Amazon and / or Google could actually fix the problem as it has been reported by so many users

I just signed up for a year, am really starting to regret this, can't get Yellowstone, and can't get the music I ask for. Was going to call them today but sounds like this has been going on for a while and nothing is being done so no solution.
