Android now unable to see contacts whatsapp number

My Samsung S22 recently updated, since then if I receive a whatsapp message whilst driving I can hear and respond to the message, if I try and start a whatsapp message it says it can't see a whatsapp number for the contact, any advice greatly appreciated as this was the main feature I used whilst driving

I have it also on my s22 ultra. It's a major issue when trying to send messages. Especially as i have sight issues and need to use voice controls sometimes!

Same issue with z fold 4, no bug report available because you just get a response saying "I can't find a WhatsApp number for the contact"

Exactement pareil pour moi impossible d envoyer des WhatsApp ça marche qu avec des SMS par contre pour la réceptions des messages je peux lire que les WhatsApp même pas les messages non plus

I have the same issue. Using a Galaxy Z Flip 3G and all I get told is "I can't find the contacts WhatsApp number" when asking to send a contact a message using WhatsApp. I can send logs if that will help, but need the instructions first. Thanks!

Ho anch'io lo stesso problema, Android Auto mi risponde che non ci sono numeri whatsapp associati al nominativo che ho richiesto per inviare un messaggio, posso solo leggere i messaggi ricevuti ma non posso iniziare io una conversazione.

Come si risolve??

Il mio Samsung S20 Fe è stato aggiornato di recente, da allora se ricevo un messaggio whatsapp durante la guida posso ascoltare e rispondere al messaggio, se provo ad avviare un messaggio whatsapp dice che non riesco a vedere un numero whatsapp per il contatto, qualsiasi consiglio molto apprezzato perché questa era la caratteristica principale che usavo durante la guida

Same issue, S21 Ultra - can't get a bug report. It's really up there with the "new" feature in Waze that doesn't recognise ANY place names 🤷🏻‍♂️

This is not a problem of android car, try it on the phone without connection to the car with "hey google" this also no longer works. The solution is really here

If you go to the contacts app, click the burger on the left and go to Contacts setting - make sure its Contacts and not Phone settings.

Scroll till to Contacts Settings, then tap the word Contacts 9 times and it opens a secret menu with 3rd party app access. Slide for WhatsApp and bingo!
