Pixel 4 connection On Ford F150
I bought a pixel 4. I was under the impression it would work to setup Android auto wirelessly on my 2018 f150. So far no luck. In addition, the new charger for pixel 4 is a dual USB type C, so I can't connect that in to my truck USB port. My old USB A to USB C cord that I used with my Galaxy s8 doesn't work either. What can I do besides looking into different cables or adaptors?
Update as of 10/31/19 ---
Just spent another hour on the phone with Google Pixel support this morning and at a high level, things still aren't working, but they recognize there is an issue and they're working to resolve it.
A few updates on my end. Using the feedback a few of you have left and following a few other threads like this reddit one, I've now at least have been able to see "flickers" of the android auto display on my vehicles screen. I won't detail all the steps since it still would lead you down a path of things not working, but the 2 main things I did were 1) when the pixel is plugged in, I set the USB preference in the notifications bar to file transfer / android auto since it doesn't do this by default and 2) I disabled developer options which were enable by a google support person on my first call with them (this might not be enabled on your device). However, like a few other people have mention the selection of 'File transfer / android auto' won't stay selected and will go back to the default selection every time.
Hopefully, this issue gets resolved soon. A disappointing start to the Pixel 4.
Update as of March 2020 ---
My issue has been resolved!! 6 months and it's finally fixed.
With that said, I fear my solution isn't going to be the solution for everyone since mine ended up being solved by Ford service and I know most people didn't have a Ford.
For the people who do have ford issues, here is how I got my pixel 4 to work. I took my F150 2018 Lariat to Ford service and they ran "Fords diagnosis steps" and they found that one of the Sync modules failed the hardware test. They ordered the new part and today they replaced it and as soon as they did that everything worked for me!
The technician said "There was recently another documented case from Ford on a similar concern." so I'm sure there are more pixel/ford owners who are having this problem.
I hope this helps someone and best of luck to everyone else!
