Where is the homescreen in the new Android Auto? 0 Recommended Answers 6 Replies 18 Upvotes

Today i used the new Android Auto surface for the first time.
What I miss is the homescreen like the old version.
Where can I see the data for the trip to work, the current weather or upcoming dates on one page?
Or is this possibility no longer available?

thanks in advance

I hope they fix this as it was a daily thing for me to use. It's funny how AA now looks like CarPlay. I think this update has been a step back. They should look at the new iOS beta version of CarPlay it has the home screen we should have had a while ago. Not looking to switch but I am a bit jealous.

I also think the new UI is a step back. I do not know why a split screen has not even been considered. While both systems (AA and Carplay) have their pros and cons, at the moment I prefer to use iOS 13 Carplay in my car because it offers a much nicer and easier-to-read UI with pale colours, has a dashboard, runs smoother and faster than AA (AA on Galaxy S10 and Carplay on iPhone SE) and enables to use third-party 4navigation apps like Sygic or Tom Tom.

The removal of the homescreen is definitely a step back. It was much better when you could have a generic screen, see weather updates on location live and have a go-to screen. I don't like having 1 app open all the time, such as Google Maps or Spotify, it's better to have a home screen. Also with the weather, I don't want to ask every 5 minutes, just see it in a split second.

I concur - removing the home screen is a big mistake. I've tried the new version but opted back to the older version. A drawer of apps is more clutter than helpful while driving, I don't want to look at a map all the time, nor the audio screen. The home screen was a nice summary that blended well with the car and didn't demand attention, but a glance at it would give you the basics. At least add it back as an option through settings, or I'd like to lock my current version and not get the update.

I agree that the loss of the homescreen was a step back.  The calendar integration was great, so my next appointment would appear, and a quick tap would bring up navigation to the next destination.  The screen full of apps is cluttered.
