Weak internet connection

When i try to use the microphone in my car it just keeps saying that the internet connection is too weak. Ive tried deleting and reinstalling the app and have restarted my phone

One of the requirements to run Android Auto (you can read here) is having a data plan, as it’s needed to stream media, navigation, and Google Assistant. Did you turn off mobile data? Could you please fill out the information below? You can find the versions here.

A lot of people don't realize that the cellular radio reception quality required for data is a lot greater than required for phone calls.  Are you sure you are in a good reception area when you try to use the microphone for other than a phone call?

Wow. This must be a joke. Of course my data was turned on. The problem is with the lastest Google update.

I didn't ask if your data was turned on.  I asked if you understand how the cellular radio system works.
