Android Auto and google maps - arrow always pointing in wrong direction

I have tried calibrating compass and it is still always pointing 180 degrees behind me.  This only happens when connected to Android auto.  It works as it is supposed to when my phone is not connected. I have also tried this with other android devices and they all have the same issue.

Hello Dan,

Welcome to the Forum! Thank You for Posting In Google Maps Help Forum!

Please try calibrating your compass by following these steps.

Also, Android auto is available to limited countries. Take a look at the bottom of this Page.

Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello Dan,

Thanks for posting in the Google Maps Help Forum.

In addition to Hossain steps, try uninstalling and reinstall the app.

If that don't work, let me know the name of the mobile device, OS, Android Auto & Google Maps version, name & maker of the car model.

Also, here is an article with more information on Android Auto app isn't working.

Keep me posted.

Regards,
Benjamin

Hello Benjamin,

Thanks for the reply.  I have tried Hossain's steps multiple times and still have not had any luck.

I am on google maps version 9.38.1, I am using a Samsung Note 7 running Android 6.0.1, and the car is a 2017 Audi A3.

I have also tried on other Android deviced and the arrow is still pointing backwards.  It must be a bug in the android auto application?

Thanks

Dan

HI,

I have the same problem on pioneer avic8200.
It was working fine till Maps had last update.

You can uninstall map updates and that should fix the problem, but when you launch android auto it automatically update all related apps including Maps.

Hopefully the next maps update fixes this problem.
