Add a forward swipe gesture to complement the back swipe for better navigation

I wanted to say how much I appreciate the back swipe gesture on Android—it’s such a simple yet impactful feature for navigation. Swiping from the left edge to go back feels intuitive and smooth.
That got me thinking: wouldn’t it be great to also have a forward swipe gesture? For example, swiping from the right edge toward the center to move forward. It seems like a natural complement to the back gesture and could make navigating apps and browsers even more seamless.
Just wanted to share this idea—curious to hear your thoughts!

Hi Cosmin Anton.  I can make a feature request on my own phone but that would mean it would be under my email address and not yours.  Your best bet would be to contact your device manufacturer's customer service to request the swipe-right feature.  Each manufacturer applies its own 'skin' over basic Android and adds it's own set of features to the launcher.  There are also third-party launchers such as Nova (Prime) that have customisable swipe features.

Hi Cosmin Anton.  Anything that makes navigation easier can only be a good thing.  One problem that I can see is that a forward swipe might become confused with swiping to initiate Gemini but if you have the feature available in your phone's settings, please leave a feature request (settings > about phone on a Pixel).

Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Penny!

Thank you for your quick response. I couldn’t find the feature request on my Android phone. If you could forward it to the development team, that would be perfect. This was the only place I could find to reach out.

Best regards,
Cosmin Anton

I can certainly add a feature request and if the Pixel Launcher Devs like the idea then I might find it included on my Pixel one fine day but there's no guarantee that other OEM's developers would do likewise.  Still, nothing ventured, nothing gained.  🙂👍
