After reinstalling one of my regular apps my Chrome Android browser kept getting hijacked
1 Recommended Answer 4 Replies 56 Upvotes
Although, I had adblocking on and third party adblocking on as well, my bowser was still hijacked by an unrelenting nonstop AD! It only started after reinstalling apps that I normally use a couple of times a month for paying bills but don't keep on board due to space. Before uninstalling the apps, I cleared the cache, cookies, history, passwords, data and etc. from every program necessary and also cleared the ram. Unfortunately, upon opening Chrome after about a minute, it was hijacked from an ad again, so I uninstalled all the apps that could have been affected and cleared all the cache, data and etc. So far it seems to be working fine but I'm not sure if any of my information was compromised. It only affected Google Chrome and the apps from Google Play. I had no problem from the Samsung browser or the apps I downloaded from the Samsung store. Google Play Protect didn't detect anything wrong, my Kaspersky didn't detect anything wrong, and Adblock didn't block the obtrusive annoying ad that wouldn't go away either. So all this protection, didn't warn me or protect me one bit!
