Hello Pies Pies,
Welcome to the Android Community forum.
Check Settings > Accessibility to make sure you haven't enable an Accessibility option that's causing this issue.

Hello Pies Pies,
My phone is running Android 12 and I do not have this green icon when using the camera or the mic. I would, therefore, advise you to check the Accessibility settings and if nothing appears to have been selected/enabled in those settings, then contact your device manufacturer's support team for assistance troubleshooting your issue.

It is part of the android 12 OS. It's not on yours? So far the only way i found to disable this is by using ADB. Hopefully, google will add a way to turn this on or off by the user.
Thanks

Pies Pies,
According to the information you referenced, the green icon(s) mentioned in that article appear in order to inform you when an app other than the native app is making use of your camera and/or mic. If you are consistently seeing these icons, that is because you are consistently using an app that is making use of your camera and/or mic. If that is the case, then you don't need to get rid of the icons, what you really need to do is decide whether you want to allow any app to have that much consistent access to your camera and mic.

Pies Pies,
The icon is warning you that an app or apps have access to your camera and mic, which may be used without your knowledge. It doesn't matter that you're not using the app at that time, it still has that same access, which is why the icon is showing up.

Yes I know. I don't want it. It's annoying. It shows up when making a call, it shows up when using face unlock, it shows up when using the camera, it shows up when using viber, facebook, or any other app that uses the camera and microphone.
The worse thing is that it is so "in your face", a very ugly and noticeable green icon on the notification panel.
I'm hoping google will give us users the option to remove it. I was able to remove it by using ADB on my computer but it's back after rebooting the phone.
Thanks
