Find & delete files on Android

On your Android phone or tablet, you can usually find your files in the Files app.

Note: Some of these steps work only on Android 9.0 and up. Learn how to check your Android version.

Find & open files

  1. Open your device's Files app Files app. Learn where to find your apps.
  2. Your downloaded files will show.
    • To find other files, tap Menu Menu.
    • To sort by name, date, type, or size, tap Modified. If you don't see "Modified," tap Sort Sort.
  3. To open a file, tap it.

Delete files

  1. Open your device's Files app Files app.
  2. Touch and hold a file.
  3. Tap Delete Delete and then OK.

Share, print, save to Drive & more

Here are a few things that you can do in the Files app Files app

Share a file

  1. Touch and hold the file.
  2. Tap Share Share.

Do other actions, like printing or adding to Google Drive

  1. Tap a file to open it.
  2. At the top right, look for more options. If needed, tap More More.

Find music, movies & other content

When you download content like music, movies, or books, you'll find that content in the app where you downloaded it. For example, learn how to find videos downloaded in the Google Play Movies & TV app.

Transfer files to a computer

When you connect your device to a computer by USB cable, open the computer's "Downloads" folder to find the files that are on your phone. Learn how to move files between your computer and Android device.
