Take a screenshot on your Android device

You can take a picture of your phone or tablet's screen. The image is called a screenshot. After you capture your screen, you can view, edit, and share the image from your mobile device.

Note: Some of these steps work only on Android 9.0 and up. Learn how to check your Android version.

Take a screenshot

  1. Open the screen that you want to capture.
  2. Press the power button for a few seconds. Then tap Screenshot.
    • If that doesn't work, you're likely running an older version of Android. Press and hold the power and volume down buttons at the same time for a few seconds.
  3. Your device will take a picture of the screen and save it.
  4. At the top of the screen, you'll see the Screenshot capture Screenshot.
