After you set up a new Android device using your existing device, you'll see this notification:
Tap & Go Complete
This device was used to set up a [device name] with your Google Accounts and their data
What the notification means
The notification lets you know that the Tap & Go process for setting up your new device is done. Now, your Google Accounts and backed-up apps and data from your existing device are on your new device.
How long the notification lasts
The notification goes away on its own after about 30 minutes. You can't dismiss it.
This prevents someone else from dismissing the notification, in case you weren't the one who set up a new phone with your device. The other person would have to have had physical possession of your device.
What to do if you didn't set up a new device
If you get this notification even though you didn't set up a new device with your Google Account:
- Review the list of devices that recently used your Google Account. You may need to sign in to your account first.
- If you see a device that you don't recognize:
- At the top, click Secure your account.
- Follow the steps to protect your account.
Make sure your Google Account is on your new device
You can check that the Google Account that was on your existing device is now on your new device:
- Open your new device's Settings app.
- Tap Accounts. If you can't find Accounts, contact your device manufacturer to learn how to find your account.
- Make sure your Google Account is listed. If your account isn't listed, tap Add account.
