Confirm your identity using your Android device

If you're signing in from a different location than you usually do, we may ask you to enter a code that you get from your phone. This helps make sure that you own the account.

Important: Some steps vary based on your Android version. Learn how to check your Android version.
Important: You're using a custom Android version. If these steps don't work for you, check with your device manufacturer.

Verify your Google Account

If your device uses Android 6.0 or later:

  1. On your device, tap Settings and then Google.
  2. Tap Profile photo and then Manage your Google Account.
  3. Tap Security or Security & sign-in and then Security code.
    • If needed, enter your phone password and pick the account.
  4. Once your phone generates a 10-digit code, enter the code on the device you want to sign in on.
  5. Tap Continue.
For Android 5 and earlier
  1. On your phone, go to Google Settings.
  2. To request a security code:
    • If your device uses Android 5: Tap Manage your Google Account and then Security & sign-in and then Security code.
    • If your device uses Android 4.4: Tap Security code.
  3. If needed, enter your phone password.
  4. Select the account you want to sign in to.
  5. A 10-digit code generates on your phone.
  6. Enter the code on the device you want to sign in on.
  7. Tap Continue.
Tip: You don't need an internet connection or mobile service to get codes.
