Demographic Data (Age/ Gender) missing from 17 Dec 0 Recommended Answers 18 Replies 114 Upvotes

We have traffic data throughout the month of Dec 2019. However, for some reason Age and Gender data under Demographics seems to have flatlined after 17 Dec 2019. Not entirely sure how/ why this has happened as our advertising reporting features are still enabled and we haven't pushed any code updates since May 2019.  We don't see any alerts or notifications in Analytics for this issue, so suspect there must be some external changes that are causing this.

A general problem, this is true for all accounts.

May be a bug or adjustment service.

I also facing the same problem. Did a lot of research, wondering is that because of Data Threshold?

It is a global issue in both free GA and GA360, discussed in several forums. So far there is no official explanation from Google -- no one knows if this is a bug or planned behaviour.

We're having the same issues. Just called with Google. They confirmed a technical issue at their end. They are currently working on a solution, but they couldn't tell me when the issue would be resolved.

Thanks Pauline and Mikko. Appreciate if you could keep us posted once you hear about their update. Thanks. I was staying up to keep googled the solution and thought something wrong in my settings.

Firebase demographic (age and gender at least) data has the same issue.

We just discovered a similar issue in Display & Video 360's "Audience profile" – data available only for 2%-5% of users, while a couple of weeks ago it used to be ca. 90% of users:

Same issue for us. Web properties affected from 17 December 2019 (Australian time). App properties affected from around January 5th 2020.

Data started coming back for us on January 24 (not retroactive), interestingly with a higher % of users matched to age than before. Sitewide traffic volume (users) on the last two data points is in similar ranges to September, but significantly more users are showing up in the demo reports than September.

Where I work, our gender % breakouts used to be mostly men 90-95% of traffic was male according to Google, but after the sudden missing gender/age data, our age & gender audience drastically changed. Google's now reporting only 85% male, which is a HUGE difference, and nothing changed regarding historical data.

I'm not sure what to make of this. Did google change how they were tracking gender & age? Am I mixing apples and oranges comparing against our old data?

Not seeing anything released by Google regarding the change.

We've had the same issue. Demographics data stopped tracking on 17th December 2019 and started to come back around 13th January 2020.

After tracking restarted, our age distribution changed like below.
I think that's more appropriated data.
I think google enhanced something about tracking logic.
Does anyone knows announcement by google?
I really curious about that.

I'm still missing my Gender/Age data between Mid-December and Mid-January. So bazaar, and still no announcement from Google...
