Event not appearing in Real-Time or Behavior 0 Recommended Answers 4 Replies 1 Upvote

I"m trying to figure an event on page load for my confirmation page.
The confirmation page is on a different domain from my main site (because my ticketing systems displays the confirmation page) Not sure if that matters.

Everythings prints out just find and I get no errors.
But I don't see the event in real-time.

What am I missing?

<!-- Global site tag (gtag.js) - Google Analytics -->
<script async src="https://www.googletagmanager.com/gtag/js?id=UA-115890570-1"></script>
  window.dataLayer = window.dataLayer || [];
  function gtag(){dataLayer.push(arguments);}
  gtag('js', new Date());

  gtag('config', 'MY ID');
  gtag('event', 'purchase', {'event_category': 'conversion', 'event_label': 'ticket', 'value': '[Revenue]'});

Forget real time for a moment - is the event actually appearing in your standard reports? i.e. is the data being sent to GA at all? Check using tag assistant (or dataslayer, GA debugger) to see if the event is actually being triggered?

Do you actually have GA code on the confirmation page? If so, is cross domain tracking set up? Are there filters on your view which may be filtering out hits from the other domain?

I see the code executing in the console and there are no errors.

I read about cross domain tracking but wasn’t sure it applies here.

That seemed to be about connecting sessions/client ID

I’m not seeing the event appear at all.

I could try seating it up, but the docs I read were about decorating links. Since I don't control the code of the check out process, I can't pass query string parameters through to checkout.

Is there another way?

Does anybody have any ideas of how I might debug this?

The code is executing without any errors in the console, but I don't see the event appear on google.

I'm suspicious of the fact this conversion event is on a URL that is different than the main site. I found some docs about dealing with different sites, but this was about annotating links and ensuring that sessions don't end at the website boundary.

Quick suggestion - check whether you have any filters which may be affecting this. Check to see if the event appears in your unfiltered view.
