If I want to receive the data of all my subdomains in my domain GA account, does my domain need to have GA installed? Or can I receive all my subdomains data without the need of the domain's data (i.e., GA installed in my domain)?

Hi, you need to install GA on all pages you want to track.
If you dont want to track the main domain.. do not place GA on it.. simply install it onto the pages of each subdomain that you want to track.

You should then also create a new View and apply the following filter so as to be able to tell apart which domain a particular pageview occurred on
  • Filter Type: Custom filter > Advanced
  • Field A --> Extract A: Hostname = (.*)
  • Field B --> Extract B: Request URI = (.*)
  • Output To --> Constructor: Request URI = $A1$B1

Great! One more question.

If I did the tracking of all subdomains with Tag Manager (but didn't work, and I did it exactly as the Tag Manager course of Google Analytics Academy)

And also did what you told me with the filter in analytics (but it didn't work either):

Is it not working because I'm trying to configure tracking subdomain with Tag Manager and Analytics? Should I delete the Tag Manager configuration? Why is not working?

Did you install the GTM container code onto all the subdomain pages?
And have you published the GTM container?

Yes I have.

✓ GTM container code installed onto all subdomain pages.
✓ GTM container code installed onto domain with Main Account.
✓ Domain's and subdomains' GTM containers published.
✓ Advanced filter added on GA Main Account's view (Domain account)

The following is the tag configuration of my subdomains' GTM containers:

The following is the tag configuration of my domain's GTM container:

What could be the problem then?

I think I am starting to understand better.

I see two options:

Option A:
-I make a container for each page (one for the domain, and one for each subdomain) with a Universal Analytics tag for each.
-All tags (from domain and subdomain) will have the property tracking code in which I want data to be displayed (in this case: UA-141693568-1).
-I install each container (code) on their respective page.

Option B:
-I make just one container for the domain with the Universal Analytics tag.
-The tag has the property tracking code: UA-141693568-1.
-I install the same container (code) in all pages (domain and subdomains).

Do both work? Which one is better?

Hi,

I tried to filter sub domain traffic to new view (filter pattern: leads\.adapt\.io) and using same UA code and GTM Container script. But unable to track sub domain traffic in the new view (leads view). Can someone help me to find the exact problem.?
