[GA4] How to use the Analytics app

This article describes how to:

• Open different properties
• Understand the data
• Open different reports
• Change the date range
• Apply segments
• Edit cards

Open different properties

1. Tap on the top left to open the sidebar.
2. Tap the currently selected property to open all the properties you have access to.
3. Choose from All, Recent, or Favorites, or search for the one you want.

Understand the data

In each report, data is displayed on cards. Some cards let you switch between metrics and dimensions. Tap each metric to make that one visible on the chart:

To view that metric by a different dimension, swipe left or right.

Open different reports

To open your reports:

1. Tap on the top left to open the sidebar.
2. Tap any report available in the app.

Within each report, you can scroll up and down to see more cards.

Change the date range

To change the date range:

1. Tap the bar with the date range to open the Date range panel.
2. Tap a preset date range, such as This week or Last week, or pick a custom date range.
3. Tap Save.

You can also use the arrows on the top right of a report to navigate quickly from week to week.

Apply segments

Segments are available only in Web properties and for Universal Analytics properties only.

To choose a system or custom segment, tap to the right of the date range.

Edit cards

To edit the information that appears on a card:

1. Tap on the top right of the card to open the menu.
2. Tap Edit.
3. Change the metric, dimension, or visualization

Share cards

To share card information with others:

1. Tap on the top right of the card to open the menu.
2. Tap Share.
3. Choose the destination for the information.

Save cards to your dashboard

The Dashboard report is a customizable grouping of reports.

To save cards from the Dashboard report:

1. Tap the plus on the top right of the app.
2. Tap a category.
3. Tap the metrics you want to add.
4. Tap Save.

To save cards from other reports:

1. Tap the menu on the top right of the card to open the menu.
2. Tap Save.

Once you save multiple reports to your dashboard, you can tap on the top right of a card to change the placement of the card in your dashboard.

Remove cards from your dashboard

To remove a card from your dashboard:

1. Open the Dashboard report.
2. Tap the menu on the top right of the card to open the menu.
3. Tap Delete.

Understand how Analytics links work

When you install the Analytics app, links to Google Analytics automatically open in the app on your mobile device instead of in your mobile browser.

If you use the Android version of the app, you can disable this behavior as follows. This will enable you to open links in your mobile browser instead of the mobile app.

1. Open your device's Settings app.
2. Tap Apps > All apps > Analytics.
3. In App info, tap Open by Default.
4. Turn off Open supported links.
