A number of Analytics reports use the explorer template and give you opportunities to interact with the data.
There are two visualizations and a table that lets you compare metrics across different dimensions (e.g., Users and Revenue across different acquisition channels or across different device/OS combinations).
The date-range control lets you choose default or custom ranges.
The visualizations give you two views of the data, for example:
- A bar chart on the left that compares total users or sessions for each dimension for the whole date range (e.g., total users per country for the last 30 days).
- A line chart on the right that compares daily users for each dimension for the date range (e.g., daily users for each age range for the last 30 days).
The visualizations change depending on the data.
The table compares metrics by dimension. For example, Users, Sessions, and Revenue for each default channel grouping.
Click a column header to change the data in the charts.
Choose a default date range like Last week Sun - Sat, Last 7 days, or Last 30 days.
Set a custom date range by selecting the beginning and end dates.
When you compare date ranges, Analytics uses the same day of the week to start each date range. For example, if you use the date range Last week Sun - Sat, then the comparison is the previous week of Sunday to Saturday. If you use a custom date range, for example, 7 days beginning on a Monday, then the comparison begins with the previous Monday.
Primary and secondary dimensions
Choose a primary dimension from the menu at the top of the first column in the table.
Click + at the top of the first column to open a column of secondary-dimension data. Use the menu at the top of that column to choose secondary dimensions.
