Specifying currencies

Analytics has a number of standard and calculated Ecommerce metrics that are considered currency values, including:

  • Transaction Revenue
  • Transaction Tax
  • Transaction Shipping
  • Item Revenue
  • Revenue per Transaction
  • Revenue per Session
  • Total Value
  • Revenue per Item

The global currency type of a reporting view determines the currency in which all of these values are displayed in reports.

By default, the global currency type of a reporting view is USD. Businesses that transact in a single currency other than USD can configure a view to use any of the supported currencies. Learn how to specify the global currency type of a view.

Changes to the global currency type of a view (profile) will affect future ecommerce data and will not be applied to data retroactively. Previous ecommerce data will not be converted to the new currency.

Using local currencies

Businesses that transact in more than one currency can specify a local currency type when sending transaction data to Analytics. The local currency must be specified in the ISO 4217 standard. If the local currency type differs from a view's global currency type, Analytics will perform the necessary conversion using the prior day's exchange rate.

Learn how to set the local currency type of a transaction or item in the following supported libraries or protocols:
