Set up new properties for mobile apps

Follow these steps to create an app property in your account.

Follow the instructions below to set up and get the tracking ID for a new app property in either a new or existing Analytics account. Before you start the process, consult the best practices for mobile app analytics set up for recommendations on how to configure your app properties.

In this article:

Create an app property

  1. Sign in to your Analytics account.
  2. Click Admin.
  3. In the ACCOUNT column, select the account to which you want to add the new app property.
You can also create a new account, which in turn creates a new property.
  4. In the PROPERTY column, click Create new property.
  5. Select Mobile app.
  6. Enter a Name.
If you plan to track multiple apps with multiple properties, use a unique name.
  7. Select an Industry Category.
  8. Select your Reporting Time Zone.
This determines the time stamp for the data in your reports.
  9. Click Get Tracking ID.
  10. Download one of the Analytics SDKs.

If you want to do this later, you can download an SDK from the Google Developers site.

You can also download an SDK integrated with AdMob.

Remember to include your Analytics tracking ID in your set up, regardless of which SDK you use.

This step should be completed by the app developer. If you are not the developer, give that person your tracking ID, along with instructions about how to download the appropriate SDK.

To get your tracking ID again or to download a another SDK: Select the Admin tab, navigate to the property, and in the PROPERTY column, click Tracking Info.

Once you've finished setting up your tracking, learn about views, and how to set up new ones or edit existing ones. Views let you filter the raw data you collect in a property so you can customize the data you see in your reports.
