Common Report Controls

Templates let you share Dashboards, Segments and Custom Reports. When you share, you share only the settings for that item – you do not share any data.

To share a dashboard:

Click Share in the Action Bar.

Click Share Dashboard to make the dashboard available to all other users in that view.

Click Share Template Link to generate a URL that you can copy and send to other users or host in a document or on a site.

To share your customisation of an Advanced Segment:

In the management page for a view, click Assets > Segments, then click share for the segment whose customisation you want to share.

Copy and paste the link in an email, chat or document, and then share as necessary.

To share the settings for a custom report:

Click the Customisation tab, then (from the Actions menu for a report) select Share.

You are presented with a link, just as you are when you share an advanced segment.

Copy and paste the link in an email, chat or document, and then share as necessary.

When you click the link to a customisation, you are directed to log in to Analytics. Upon login, you are then directed to choose the Analytics view into which you want to import the customisation settings.

When the import has completed, you are then directed to that customisation.

Notes

Templates contain no data from your reports, views or web properties. However, they do contain the full definitions of your customisations, so be careful not to share customisations that contain sensitive definitions.

The URLs for templates are permanent. Even if you delete the original dashboard, advanced segment or custom report, you can still open the URL and use the settings to create new customisations.

The settings available from the template link are not updated when you update the original dashboard, advanced segment or custom report. Each time that you want to share new customisation settings, you need to repeat the sharing process.
