How do I switch?

You can migrate to Google Analytics 4 in different ways, depending on how much automated assistance you'd like.

Option 1: More automated 

Choose this option if you want to use tools that:

  • create and set up a new Google Analytics 4 property
  • migrate your goals to GA4

Not all Universal Analytics configurations have an obvious Google Analytics 4 counterpart, and the automated process might not make the same choices as you would. We strongly recommend that you choose one of the options above.

For Google Ads customers

If you’re a Google Ads customer, and you import conversions or use audiences from a Universal Analytics property in an active campaign, make sure you migrate as soon as possible to avoid serious disruptions of your ad campaigns.
