GoDaddy: Set up your Google tag

You can measure behavioral data about your site with Google Ads and Google Analytics. Follow the steps in this article to set up a tag for your Google Ads or Google Analytics account. Learn more about Installing your tag with a website builder or CMS.

Before you begin

You can integrate your GoDaddy account with Google Analytics for free without a plugin. To set up this integration, you’ll need:

  • A valid Google sign-in
  • Google Analytics Measurement ID ("G-" ID, for Google Analytics 4 properties) or tracking ID ("UA-" ID, for Universal Analytics properties)
  • An active GoDaddy account
 
The instructions for setting up the Google tag are different for tag IDs starting with "AW-" (usually, Google Ads accounts) and tag IDs starting with "G-" (usually, Google Analytics properties). Follow the instructions below that correspond with your tag.

If you have a tag starting with "AW-"

  1. In your GoDaddy account, go to the “Product” page.
  2. On the “Product” page, go to the “Websites + Marketing” section and click Manage to open your site.
  3. From the main menu, click the Edit Website button to open your website builder.
  4. In the top-right corner, click Settings.
  5. From the dropdown menu under “Analytics & Tracking”, click Google Analytics.
  6. Enter the Google tag ID ("G-" ID, for Google Analytics 4 properties) or the tracking ID ("UA-" ID, for Universal Analytics properties) in the box provided. Your changes will be saved automatically.
  7. Click Publish.

After you’ve completed these steps, wait at least 24 hours before you sign in to your Google Analytics account. After 24 hours, you may view conversion data about your site.

 

If you have a tag starting with "G-"

  1. In your GoDaddy account, go to the “Product” page.
  2. On the “Product” page, go to the “Websites + Marketing” section and click Manage next to your site.
  3. From your Dashboard, click Commerce. Select Ways to Sell, then click Marketplaces & Social.
  4. Next to "Google Channel", click Add Sales Channel.
  5. Connect to your Google account and follow the steps to grant access.
  6. Click Complete Setup.
  7. Review the Google Channel policies and click Confirm Shopping Policies.
  8. Select Create a Google Merchant Center Account and follow the steps to list your products on Google.
