This article is about Google Analytics 4 properties. If you're using a Universal Analytics property, refer to the Universal Analytics section of this help center.

[GA4] What the value (not set) means

(not set) is a placeholder name that Google Analytics uses when it hasn't received any information for a dimension. The reasons for (not set) appearing as a dimension value vary according to the report.

Blank values

Analytics sometimes shows a blank value instead of (not set). A blank value appears when an empty value is sent from an event parameter to Analytics, while (not set) appears when no value is sent.
