The following tables list each available field and its purpose.

Content and Traffic
Filter Name Description
Request URI Includes the relative URL, or piece of the URL after the hostname. For example: for http://www.google-analytics.com/requestURL/index.html?sample=text the Request URI is /requestURL/index.html?sample=text
Hostname The full domain name of the page requested. For example: for http://www.google-analytics.com/requestURL/index.html?sample=text the hostname is www.google-analytics.com
Page Title The contents of the <title> tags in the HTML of the delivered page.
Referral The external referrer, if any. This field is only populated for the initial external referral at the beginning of a session.
Campaign Target URL The target URL defined in a campaign.
Not compatible with Dynamic Search Ads or Shopping campaigns that don't have the target URL set in the ads.
Hit Type The type of hit (page , user_defined , transaction , item , cost , event , social , appview , or exception).
Search Term Search terms used in a property's internal search engine.
Site Search Category Searches confined to a specific category or area of a property (e.g., Mens).
Campaign or Ad Group
Filter Name Description
Campaign Source Campaign Source is defined by the tagged page request query. This usually denotes the resource that provided the click. For example: "google". This variable is automatically generated for Google Ads hits when auto-tagging is turned on through the Google Ads interface.
Campaign Medium Method of Delivery. Campaign Medium is defined by the tagged page request query. This typically refers to the medium used to generate the request, for example: "Organic," "CPC," or "PPC." This variable is automatically generated for Google Ads hits when auto-tagging is turned on through the Google Ads interface.
Campaign Name

Campaign Name is defined by the tagged request query. This usually refers to the name given to the marketing campaign or used to differentiate campaign source. For example, "OctoberCampaign." This variable is automatically generated for Google Ads hits when auto-tagging is turned on through the Google Ads interface.

You can also filter for Campaign Manager 360, Display & Video 360, and Search Ads 360 campaign names.

Campaign AdGroup Campaign AdGroup is defined by the tagged request query. This usually refers to the ad group associated with the keyword/creative and click. For example, "OctoberCampaignAds." This variable is automatically generated for Google Ads hits when auto-tagging is turned on through the Google Ads interface.
Campaign Term The term defined by the tagged page request query. The campaign term usually refers to the term used to generate the ad from the referring source or campaign source, such as a keyword. This variable is automatically generated for Google Ads hits when auto-tagging is turned on through the Google Ads interface.
Campaign Content Campaign Content is defined by the tagged request query. The Content tag typically defines multivariate testing, or is used to disseminate campaign target variables in an advertising campaign. This variable is automatically generated for Google Ads hits when auto-tagging is turned on through the Google Ads interface.
Campaign Code The campaign code, defined by the tagged request query, can be used to refer to a campaign lookup table, or chart of referring codes used to define variables in place of multiple request query tags.
Campaign Referral Path The referring channels for conversions attributed to the campaign.
Ecommerce
Filter Name Description
E-Commerce Transaction Country The Transaction Country variable is used to designate the country defined by the transaction process.
E-Commerce Transaction Region The Transaction Region variable is used to designate the region defined by the transaction process.
E-Commerce Transaction City The Transaction City variable represents the city where the commerce transaction occurred.
E-Commerce Store or Order Location The Transaction Affiliation tag describes the affiliating store or processing site.
E-Commerce Item Name The name given to the subject of the e-commerce transaction.
E-Commerce Item Code The identifier or code number given to the item of the e-commerce transaction.
E-Commerce Item Variation A custom e-commerce variable, most often used to store distinguishing information about items. For example, this field may hold "blue" and "white" as distinguishing characteristics of two otherwise similar hooded sweatshirts.
E-Commerce Transaction ID The identifier or code number given to the e-commerce transaction.
E-Commerce Transaction Currency Code The currency code used in the transaction.
Audience/Users
Filter Name Description
Browser The browser name (like Chrome or Firefox)
Browser Version The major browser version.
Browser Size The pixel dimensions of the display area of the browser.
Operating System Platform The operating system platform.
Operating System Version The operating system's major version.
Language Settings The language setting in the browser preferences.
Screen Resolution

The resolution of the screen, as determined from the browser program.

Screen Colors The color capabilities of the screen, as determined from the browser program.
Java Enabled? The java enabled variable describes whether Java is enabled in the browser. Possible values are Yes or No.
Flash version The Flash version variable describes what version of Flash is installed in the browser.
Connection Speed The connection speed, as determined by the internet connection as detected by the browser.
Type Either New User or Returning User, based on Analytics identifiers.
ISP Organization The Internet Service Provider registered to the IP address used to access the internet.
ISP Domain The geographic domain of the ISP.
IP Address The IP Address.
IP Version The IP version (IPV4, IPV6).
Location
Filter Name Description
Country The country from which the data originated.
Region The region from which the data originated.
City The city from which the data originated.
Event
Filter Name Description
Event Category The category assigned to an event (e.g., Videos or Downloads).
Event Action The action assigned to an event (e.g., Play, Download Whitepaper).
Event Label The label assigned to an event (any descriptive string you choose).
Other
Filter Name Description
Custom Field 1 An empty, custom field for storage of values during filter computation. Data is not stored permanently in this field, but can be written to Custom Field 1 or 2 to be used by a subsequent filter.
Custom Field 2 An empty, custom field for storage of values during filter computation. Data is not stored permanently in this field, but can be written to Custom Field 1 or 2 to be used by a subsequent filter.
User Defined These variables can be set by modifying javascript through the GATC, E-Commerce fields, or variables in a tracking link.
Application
Filter Name Description
Application ID Usually, the package ID for the app in the app store in which it is available (e.g., com.google.android.apps.app name. Can also be any string that identifies the app. Configured in the app by the developer.
Application Installer ID The ID for the app store from which the app was installed, or any string used to identify the app store. Configured in the app by the developer.
Application Name The application display name (e.g., Gmail, Maps). Configured in the app by the developer.
Application Version The version number of the app. Configured in the app by the developer.
Screen Label The label for a specific screen within an app, or the logical name for an equivalent web page when the same content appears in both an app and on a website.
Application? Whether the hit came from an app. If you set this to NO, then all hits from the app are filtered out (including hits like transactions). Possible values are Yes or No.
Fatal Exception? Whether the exception was fatal. Possible values are Yes or No.
Exception Description The description of the exception. Set by the developer when sending exception hits.
Mobile Device
Filter Name Description
Mobile? Possible values are Yes or No. Whether the device is a mobile device (e.g., phone, tablet, mobile gaming device).
Tablet? Possible values are Yes or No. Whether the device is a tablet.
Qwerty Keyboard? Possible values are Yes or No. Whether the device includes a Qwerty keyboard.
NFC Support? Possible values are Yes or No.

Whether the device includes Near Field Communication.

Cellular Radio? Possible values are Yes or No.

Whether the device has a cellular radio connection to make calls and/or access data plans (e.g., 3G, 4G).

Wifi Support? Possible values are Yes or No.

Whether the device supports Wifi connections.

Mobile Brand Name

The brand name under which the device was released. A device might be branded by an OEM (e.g., Samsung, Nokia) or carrier (e.g., Verizon, NTT DoCoMo).

Mobile Model Name

The model name of the mobile device. An OEM may use same model name across several carriers or locales (e.g., Galaxy Nexus, iPhone), or use different model names across various carriers or locales (e.g., Galaxy S3 has the model name SGH-T999 in the U.S., but has the model name GT-I9300 in Germany).

Mobile Marketing Name

The marketing name for a device may have different model names for various carriers/locales, for example, Galaxy S3 is the marketing name of the same device that has two different models (Mobile Model Name).

Mobile Pointing Method

Primary input method (e.g., physical keyboard, onscreen keyboard).

Social
Filter Name Description
Social Network Social network on which the action occurred (e.g., Google+, Facebook).
Social Action The social-interaction action that was taken on the social network (e.g., on Google+, when a user clicks the +1 button, the social action is plus).
Social Target The target of the social interaction (e.g., the content for which you clicked +1), typically a URL, but can be any text.
Custom Dimensions
Filter Name Description
your custom dimension Any Custom Dimensions that you have created are listed here. Use unique names for your Custom Dimensions so that you can easily distinguish between them in this list.
