Chat notifications aren't working

If you're not getting message notifications or they’re delayed, try these tips to fix the problem.

Try common fixes

  • Re-open the app: To start Allo again, quit and re-open the app.
  • Download the latest version of the app: Check that you have the latest version of Allo from the app store. If you don't, the app page will say, "Update."
  • Connect to Wi-Fi: If you're using Wi-Fi instead of mobile data, make sure your Wi-Fi is on.
    1. Open your device's Settings Settings
    2. Turn on Wi-Fi.

Try more fixes

If you need more tips, try these:

Turn on Allo notifications
  1. On your iPhone, open Allo Allo app.
  2. Tap Menu Menu and then Settings.
  3. Tap Device settings and then Notifications.
  4. Turn on Allow notifications.
Check chat notifications
If you're not being notified for a specific chat, check its settings: 
  1. On your iPhone, open Allo Allo app.
  2. Open a chat. 
  3. Tap the profile icon and then Turn off Mute.
Turn off "Do not disturb"
  1. Swipe up from the bottom of your screen.
  2. Check that Do not disturb is off.
Allow Allo to work in the background
To send you notifications, Allo needs to be on in the background. 
  1. On your iPhone, open Allo Allo app.
  2. Tap Menu Menu and then Settings and then Device Settings.
  3. Turn on Cellular data.
