Back-up or restore Google Allo

To save your Allo messages and media, you can back them up. You can restore that information on a new phone as long as you use the same phone number.

Notes: 

Back up your information

You can only save your Allo information if you turn on the iCloud backup setting on your phone. 

Turn on iCloud backup

  1. Open your phone’s Settings, then tap your profile icon.
  2. Tap iCloud, then iCloud backup.
  3. Turn on iCloud backup.

Change your backup settings

  1. On your iPhone, open Allo.
  2. Go to Menu Menu, then Settings.
  3. Select Backup.
  4. Choose how you want your info saved and options, like including media.
  5. To start the backup right away, tap Back up now

Delete your backup

You can delete the backup in iCloud.

Note: If you unregister your Allo app on your iPhone, you’ll also delete the backup in iCloud.

  1. Open your phone’s Settings.
  2. Tap General, then Storage & iCloud usage.
  3. In "iCloud", select Manage storage, then your profile icon.
  4. Choose Show all apps, then Allo 
  5. Turn off the Allo backup, then Turn off & Delete.

Restore your Allo information

To restore your information from a backup, open Allo and verify your phone number.

  1. On your iPhone, open Allo.
  2. Follow the verification steps.
  3. If you have a backup available in your iCloud, you'll see the option to restore. Tap Restore.
