Dynamic Search Ads in AdWords Editor

Dynamic Search Ads automatically show your ad based on the content of your website. For an overview of Dynamic Search Ads, visit the AdWords Help Center.

Add a Dynamic Search Ad

  1. In the type list, select Ads > Dynamic Search Ads.
  2. Click Add Dynamic Search Ad.
  3. Enter the ad description lines, display URL, and final URL. Learn how to format the final URL in the AdWords Help Center.
  4. Optional: Select a device preference (Mobile or All) for your ad.

 

You can now manage Expanded Dynamic Search Ads in Adwords Editor. Expanded Dynamic Search Ads automatically generate the display URL, as well as the headline text, using the content of your website.

Create and edit Expanded Dynamic Search Ads

  1. In the type list, select Ads > Expanded Dynamic Search Ads.

  2. Click Add Expanded Dynamic Search Ad.

  3. Select the campaigns from your ad group that you wish to include.

  4. Enter a description for your ad.

  5. Add a dynamic tracking template to add tags to your landing page URLs to help you gain insights into your campaign performance.

Add multiple Dynamic Search Ads

Bulk upload of Dynamic Search Ads is available only in AdWords Editor, our free, downloadable application for managing your AdWords advertising campaigns. Download and install AdWords Editor
  1. In the type list, select Ads > Dynamic Search Ads.
  2. Click Make multiple changes.
  3. Under "Destination,” select My data includes columns for campaigns and/or ad groups or Use selected destinations.
  4. Type or paste your changes into the grid.
  5. Click Process.
  6. To continue, click Finish and review changes.
  7. To add the pending changes to your account, click Keep.

Add a dynamic ad target

For an overview of what dynamic ad targets are and how they work, visit the AdWords Help Center.

  1. In the type list, select Keywords and Targeting > Dynamic ad targets.
  2. Click Add dynamic ad target.
  3. Optional: Select values to target. You can also leave the values as "None" to target all webpages in the domain.
  4. Optional: Enter a final URL for the dynamic ad target. If you don't enter a final URL, the URL of the ad is used. Learn how to format the final URL in the AdWords Help Center.

Add multiple dynamic ad targets

  1. In the type list, select Keywords and Targeting > Dynamic ad targets.
  2. Click Make multiple changes.
  3. Under "Destination,” select My data includes columns for campaigns and/or ad groups or Use selected destinations.
  4. Type or paste your changes into the grid.
  5. Click Process.
  6. To continue, click Finish and review changes.
  7. To add the pending changes to your account, click Keep.

To add dynamic ad targets in your CSV import file, include up to three pairs of dynamic ad target conditions and values, using the following column headers:

  • Dynamic ad target condition 1
  • Dynamic ad target value 1
  • Dynamic ad target condition 2
  • Dynamic ad target value 2
  • Dynamic ad target condition 3
  • Dynamic ad target value 3
Important: AdWords Editor allows you to post anything for the "Category" value. However, to ensure that your ads are targeted properly, we recommend that you check your AdWords account for categories that the Dynamic Search Ads system has identified. (Entering your own category instead of choosing from AdWords' categories might prevent the system from properly targeting sections of your website.)
  1. Sign in to your AdWords account.
  2. Select the Auto targets tab, then select Add dynamic ad target > Add a group of webpages.
  3. Select CATEGORY from the drop-down menu to see a list of categories identified by the ads system.
