Call extensions

AdWords Editor can add and modify call extensions at the campaign and ad group levels, and it’s especially useful for adding or updating multiple call extensions at once.

Create a call extension

Call extensions are managed in the Shared library, similar to sitelinks. They must be created in the Shared library before they can be added to campaigns and ad groups. To create a new call extension, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Shared library header under the type list.
  2. Select Shared call extensions in the left panel.
  3. Click Add shared call extension (above the data view).
  4. Make sure the new extension is selected in the data view and add the extension information in the edit pane. Be sure to add the phone country and phone number or the extension won’t work.

Add a call extension to a campaign or ad group

  1. In the account tree, select the campaign or ad group where you want to add the extension.
  2. In the type list, select Ads and extensions > Call extensions.
  3. Above the data view, click Add call extension and select Campaign call extension or Ad group call extension from the drop-down menu.
  4. Choose the extension you want to add from the list.
  5. Click OK.

Edit a call extension

Call extensions are managed in the Shared library, which means that changing the extension will update all campaigns and ad groups where that extension has been added. To edit a call extension, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Shared library header under the type list.
  2. Select Shared call extensions in the left panel.
  3. Select an extension in the data view.
  4. Edit the extension’s information in the edit panel.

Note

All account-level shared items are shown in the Shared library even if only some campaigns are downloaded. Shared call extensions won't show associations for campaigns that haven't been downloaded. Before removing call extensions from the Shared call extensions view, be sure to check that they aren’t associated with any un-downloaded campaigns.
