Create and manage labels in Google Ads

Note

Labels are only supported in Google Ads Editor 11.1 or later. If you’re using a previous version, download the latest version of Google Ads Editor to start using labels.

Labels are a quick and useful way to organize your ads and campaigns. With Google Ads Editor, you can add any combination of labels to campaigns, ad groups, ads, and keywords, and then filter by label. Learn more about using labels in Google Ads.

Create new labels

  1. In the left sidebar, under "Manage," click Account-level to expand it, and then click Shared library.
  2. Select Labels.
  3. Click Add label.
  4. Name the label in the edit panel. Then, if you wish, change the color and add a description.

Edit an existing label

  1. In the left sidebar, under "Manage," click Account-level to expand it, and then click Shared library.
  2. Select Labels.
  3. Choose the label you want to edit in the data view.
  4. Change the name, description, and color in the edit panel.

Apply or remove a label

Labels can be applied to multiple campaigns, ad groups, ads, and keywords.

  1. Select the items you want to label in the account tree, type list, or data view.
  2. Click the Labels tab in the edit panel.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Select the labels you want to apply or deselect the labels you want to remove.
  5. Click OK.

Filter by label

To view items with a certain label:

  1. In the type list, select the type of item you want to filter (Keywords, for example).
  2. Click the search menu icon Advanced search> Search builder.
  3. In the "Default" drop-down menu, hover over the type of item you selected (Keywords, in this example), and then select Labels.
  4. In the "None selected" drop-down menu, find and select the labels you want to view.
  5. Click the search icon.

You can filter by multiple labels. Selecting multiple labels at once in the search menu will show all items that have one or more of those labels. Repeating this search process while adding a single label each time will show only items that have all of the relevant labels.

Sort by label

To sort a list of items by label:

  1. Select the items you want to sort.
  2. Click the heading of the Labels column in the data view to sort by label.

Items with the highest number of labels will automatically appear at the top.
