Copy or move ad groups

You can cut or copy ad groups in one campaign, then paste the ad groups and their contents in a different campaign.

Drag and drop

To move a single ad group quickly, you can select it in the tree view and drag it to the new campaign. To copy it, hold the Control key. Drag and drop only works in the Windows version of Google Ads Editor, while the control command works in both Windows and Mac. To copy or move more than one ad group, follow the steps below:

Copy and paste ad groups

  1. In the tree view, select the account or campaign containing the ad groups that you want to copy.
  2. Click the Ad Groups tab.
  3. Select one or more ad groups.
  4. Go to the Edit menu > Copy to copy the ad groups.
  5. In the tree view, select the campaign where you want to paste the ad groups.
  6. Go to the Edit menu > Paste to paste the ad groups.

Cut and paste ad groups

  1. In the tree view, select the account or campaign containing the ad groups that you want to move.
  2. Click the Ad groups tab.
  3. Select one or more ad groups.
  4. Go to the Edit menu > Cut to cut the ad groups.
  5. In the tree view, select the campaign where you want to paste the ad groups.
  6. Go to the Edit menu > Paste to paste the ad groups.
Notes
  • Your ad group's performance statistics, such as impressions and clicks, will not be transferred to the new location.
  • As an alternative option, you can copy an ad group without the items inside, then paste the ad group shell into a new location. To copy a shell ad group, go to the Edit menu > Copy special > Copy ad group shell.
