About cancelling client accounts

If you need to cancel any of your client accounts, you can do so right from the ""Sub-account settings"" page of your manager account. You can always cancel a client account by navigating to that account and following the usual steps for cancellation. But cancelling from the "Sub-account settings" page of your manager account may be more efficient, especially if you need to cancel multiple accounts at once.

This article explains how cancelling client accounts works, and shows you how to do so from your manager account.

Requirements

To cancel a client account, you’ll need to meet the following requirements:

Viewing cancelled accounts

After you cancel accounts, you can always display these cancelled accounts in the table of your 'Management' page by clicking the 'Account status' filter in the navigation panel and ticking the box next to Cancelled. The cancelled accounts will appear with a red x next to the account name to indicate their cancelled status.

You can navigate to a cancelled account like any other active account, by clicking the name of the cancelled account in the 'Accounts' column. Keep in mind that individual users with access to the cancelled account will also always be able to access their cancelled accounts, as usual. In the account, an alert at the top will show that the account is cancelled.

Reactivating cancelled accounts

As with individual Google Ads accounts, you, or users with access to the account, will be able to reactivate the cancelled accounts at any time. However, you won’t be able to reactivate cancelled accounts from the "Sub-account settings" page.

To reactivate a cancelled account, navigate to the cancelled account. The alert at the top of cancelled accounts will show a link that you can click to reactivate the account. Alternatively, you can always reactivate by following the usual steps for reactivating individual accounts

Note: If your account is linked to a manager account, you’ll only be able to reactivate your account if the manager hasn’t reached the maximum account limit. If the manager has reached the maximum account limit, you’ll only be able to reactivate your account if the manager unlinks or cancels at least one of their current client accounts.

How to cancel accounts from your "Sub-account settings" page

Keep in mind, you’ll need to have administrative access to your manager account in order to cancel accounts.

  1. Sign in to your Google Ads manager account.
  2. From the page menu on the left, click Accounts, then click Management along the top.
  3. Tick the box next to the accounts you want to cancel.
  4. Click Edit and select Cancel from the drop-down menu.
