About the enhanced campaigns upgrade center
We recently upgraded AdWords by rolling out enhanced campaigns. Enhanced campaigns help you reach people with the right ads, based on their context like location, time of day and device type, without having to set up and manage several separate campaigns. The upgrade center lets you see which of your campaigns were part of the automatic upgrade.
About the Upgrade Center
The enhanced campaigns upgrade center helps you easily upgrade several campaigns at once. It also keeps track of your upgrade progress, letting you know how many campaigns you’ve upgraded and how many more are left.
You can find the upgrade center in the Campaigns tab, and can access it using the navigation bar on the left.
You’ll then be presented with options to see which of your campaigns were merged, as well as an advanced mode that provides a view of all of the campaigns in your account and lets you know which ones were upgraded by you, or auto upgraded by Google.
Keep in mind
If you merged campaigns before upgrading them, we identified matching campaigns for your account. Matching campaigns are two campaigns that had similar keywords, were targeted to run on similar devices, or had similar campaign names. Remember that if you chose to delete the secondary campaign during a merge, the secondary campaign won’t be part of the automatic upgrade and will no longer show in the upgrade center.
How to upgrade your campaigns
If you haven’t upgraded your legacy campaigns, or haven’t been a part of the automatic upgrade yet, you’ll be able to use the upgrade center to upgrade your campaigns. You’ll be able to see your campaigns in a table, then set a mobile bid adjustment for each one. Whenever possible, we’ll help you choose a bid adjustment by providing a suggestion based on how other advertisers with similar keywords are bidding.
How to upgrade campaigns in bulk
- Open the Campaigns tab and click on “Upgrade center” from the navigation bar on the left-hand side.
- Click on View pending upgrades, which you’ll find inside the “Upgrade your campaigns” panel. You’ll then see a table with your campaigns, their migration status, mobile bid adjustments, device options, campaign type, and budget.
- Mark the checkbox next to the campaigns you’d like to upgrade, then click Choose upgrade settings. This will open a screen where you’ll be able to adjust your settings before upgrading the campaigns.
- Choose the bid adjustment for the campaigns you’ve selected.
You can choose the Google-suggested default bid, which is the mobile bid adjustment that we’ve calculated for each campaign based on information from similar advertisers. Read more about how we come up with these suggestions.
Keep in mind that once you upgrade to enhanced campaigns, you won’t be able to revert back to your original campaign settings.
Review your changes and click Apply now if you’re ready to upgrade your campaigns or Save for review if you’d like to apply these changes later.
You’ll notice that the table will update with your information, and will show the bid adjustments you’ve selected for your campaigns. You can click the icon to see traffic estimates for that adjustment.
- If you’ve saved changes for later, you can apply them when you're ready by checking the boxes next to the campaigns you’re ready to upgrade, then clicking Complete upgrade.
After your campaigns have been upgraded
Whether you had previously upgraded your campaigns, or they were part of the automatic upgrade, you can use the upgrade center to see all of your campaigns and their new settings. The advanced mode lets you view all of your upgraded campaigns in a table that shows a campaign’s migration status, daily budget, mobile bid adjustment, and campaign type. You can choose "View: all but deleted campaigns" from the drop-down menu above the table to view all campaigns.
