Check for unauthorised changes

Sign in to your AdWords account regularly to check for any unexpected or unauthorised activity, like changes to your ads or budget. Scan your computer for malware

Make sure that you have up-to-date antivirus protection on your computer and run a full system scan. Someone can steal your personal information by spreading malware onto your system, so running a full system scan on a regular basis can help ensure that your system is free of malware. Choose strong, unique passwords and update them regularly

Update your password at least twice a year. A strong password contains a combination of numbers, characters and case-sensitive letters, so it can't be guessed easily. Don't use the same password for different websites. Update your password

Enable 2-step verification

2-step verification adds an extra layer of security to your Google account by requiring you to have access to your phone, as well as your username and password, when you sign in. This means that even if someone knows your password, they won't be able to sign into your account unless they also have access to your phone. Get started with 2-step verification

Use a security key

If you use 2-step verification, you can use a security key instead of having codes sent to your phone. With a security key, you simply insert the key into your computer’s USB port. Create individual user profiles for each person using your account

Sharing is usually a good thing, but not when it comes to usernames and passwords. If multiple people need to use your AdWords account, don't just share the same username and password. Instead, add users for your AdWords account. Invite users to your account

Grant the lowest access needed for each user

When creating new user profiles, you can set different access levels for each profile. For example, users with administrative access can invite new users into the account, but users with standard access can't. There's also read only access and email only access for users who don't need to make changes to your account. Learn about access levels

Remove any inactive users, like former employees

If people leave your company or no longer work with AdWords, you should disable those inactive users. Otherwise, they'll still be able to sign in to your account and possibly make changes without your knowledge.
