Hacked political materials policy global roll-out (November 2020)

In November 2020, the Google Ads Hacked political materials policy will be rolled out globally for all advertisers running ads related to entities within scope of Google’s existing election ads policies. The policy specifically concerns the distribution of hacked political materials. Enforcement will begin on November 3rd, 2020.

As previously announced, we are now enforcing this policy on ads that feature entities in scope of our United States election ads policy as of September 1st, 2020.

Under this policy, the following is not allowed:

Ads that directly facilitate or advertise access to hacked material related to political entities within scope of Google's elections ads policies. This applies to all protected material that was obtained through the unauthorized intrusion or access of a computer, computer network, or personal electronic device, even if distributed by a third party.

Note that discussion of or commentary on hacked political materials is allowed, provided that the ad or landing page does not provide or facilitate direct access to those materials.

Violations of this policy will not lead to immediate account suspension without prior warning. A warning will be issued at least 7 days prior to any suspension of your account.

Please review this policy to determine whether or not any of your ads fall in scope, and if so, remove those ads before November 3rd, 2020.
