In March 2019, Google will begin enforcing a political content policy update to require that all advertisers running election ads in the European Union be verified by Google.

EU election ads include any ads that feature a political party or a current elected office holder or candidate for the EU Parliament within the European Union (not including the United Kingdom).

To be verified, advertisers must provide proof of identity, information about where they’re based and confirm that they are a citizen of a European Union member country (not including the United Kingdom) and are legally permitted to run these ads. More information about verification will be published in February 2019.
