Update to Gambling and Games Policy: Nigeria (October 2025)

On October 16, 2025, Google Ads will update its Gambling and games policy for Nigeria. We will begin allowing ads from licensed gambling operators in Cross Rivers, Ekiti and Oyo states.

Eligibility to advertise is restricted to entities that have received authorization from the designated regulatory authorities of each targeted state.

Advertisers targeting Ekiti are required to submit a license from the Ekiti State Lottery and Gaming Board.

Advertisers targeting Oyo must provide a license issued by the Oyo State Gaming Board (OYSGB).

Advertisers targeting Cross River must supply a license from the Cross River State Lotteries and Gaming Agency.

Google allows ads promoting the following online gambling content as long as they are licensed by the appropriate state gambling authority in an eligible state. Current eligible state(s): Cross River, Ekiti, Lagos, Oyo

  • Bingo
  • Lotteries
  • Sports Betting/Fantasy Sports
  • Online Casino Games
  • Online games
