I had placed two responsive ad units in my web page. Before keeping ads page speed for mobile was around 70-80% now after keeping adsense ads it has gone down to 30-40%. So i need steps for optimizing the adsense code so that i can improve pagespeed. But i donot want to get banned on google adsense either. So please explain me in detail. Google pagespeed score is an important ranking factor that's why. Also i am a web developer.

That's not my job. That's your job as a web developer. Using Google fonts, having to call so many JS and CSS files, they all add up. TTFB is not great: what DNS are you using and where is the host located? Yes, AdSense adds time as well, but I think there are things that you can do to reduce page load time before blaming AdSense. I would post in the Webmaster Help Community mentioned above for further assistance.

Hi Anant, I think you will see improved speed once you preconnect the required origins and eliminate render blocking CSS. Additionally, preconnect .googletagmanager, .googleleadservices, googletagservices to improve your site's speed. see attached.

Have you cached your static resources on service worker?

Adsense is slowing my page by a full 7 seconds. I am going to try Steve's preconnect idea to see if I can lower it.   wasaweb, with all due respect, it might not affect the score directly, but slow page loads definitely affect user experience.

Preconnect is worth doing though it will probably shave a couple hundred milliseconds and not seconds (preconnect to https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com and https://adservice.google.com for AdSense).

I'm not sure how typical it is for AdSense to add 7 seconds to the page load - that seems to be excessive to me, and I haven't seen anything close to that kind of figure in my experience.

As mentioned in my earlier reply, it's a trade-off: AdSense will add to the load time, as with many other things that you might use on your site (such as images and external CSS / JS files). Only you as the site owner can make the decision whether that's acceptable or not.

Even if ads may take some time to load, that doesn't stop the page from rendering and in most cases it doesn't cause reflow issues (especially on the first screen / above the fold - however that may mean an empty space).

Funny, its actually fairly typical in my experience.  This morning when I ran the speed test (mobile) the Google/Doubleclick ads main thread blocking was ~6,900ms. This is not the first time that this has occured either. Currently, it is at 928ms. Generally, in mobile it ranges between 7,000ms-900ms on all my sites. In desktop however it is usually around 40-50ms, currently its at 46ms.

The site loads to full interactive at about 6.8s now in mobile. 1.1s in desktop.  This morning it was 12+s. I've been busy with other things so this is without the prefetch yet. I've experimented with AMP but it breaks the functionality of the site so I am still searching for a fix for the mobile loading time, very important thing due to the fact traffic on this site is approximately 82%.
