Getting Scraped Error but my Site is All Written By Me 1 Recommended Answer 7 Replies 1 Upvote

I have over 30 websites running AdSense and have used them since they started up, so I'm generally familiar with how they work. However, I'm having problems with my new site.

I've cared about the topics of Aspergers and Autism for many years. I've finally created a site to talk about the experiences of my family and to do book reviews. The site is here -

I submitted it to Google to run their ads. They refused just saying I was breaking their rules. That baffled me, so I added 10 more articles to the site, thinking maybe they didn't think I had enough content yet. I resubmitted. Now they say I'm scraping my content. What??? I hand-wrote all this content myself. Yes, two of the articles were ones I originally wrote for Quora users, to answer questions they had about autism. Those are my articles written by me. Are they saying I have to delete those two articles off of Quora before I can use them on my own site?

Any other suggestions or ideas? I can't find any way to actually talk with Google about this issue.

Update - now the error reads:

Valuable inventory: Templated page

As stated in our Program policies, we may not show Google ads on pages or apps with little to no value and/or excessive advertising until changes are made. This includes but is not limited to mirroring or framing content from other sources without adding value.

I'll note it's the exact same content. It's still 100% written by me, discussion various aspects of Autism from a personal point of view. I'm not using content from any other sources. I have NO advertising on the page, so clearly it's not about the "excessive advertising".

This is wholly baffling.

Oh and to answer your question, duplicate content is duplicate content, it doesn't matter if it was written by you or someone else on the other site.

I appreciate you taking the time to take a look and offer your thoughts. Thank you!

I agree I had two short articles. On all of my sites sometimes I write long 900-word posts on a topic and at other times I make quick posts to update on something interesting I've found. I've never had any other site have an issue from Google because of this. It would seem extremely odd if in only this one particular case they cared that I'd made those quick updates. In any case, I've altered both article so it's longer. So that no longer is a factor. We'll see if that makes any difference.

I have 38 articles on this site, which is less than I have on other sites that Google has approved. So it shouldn't be the volume. I always add the ads right from the beginning and never in the past have they complained that a site was only getting started. It's part of my normal site setup to create the site, create the structure, and add in the ad code so everything is set while I build it out.

In terms of the two Quora articles, I've always written for Quora and written reviews on Amazon and posted those on my own sites as well. My content is my own. It would seem exceptionally odd if this was the one and only time Google cared about that. With the rate at which external sites fail, I always have copies on my own site. That way when the third-party site fails I still have 100% of my own content on my own site and it's not lost.

Thanks!

"I always add the ads right from the beginning and never in the past have they complained that a site was only getting started."

But they never used to review sites once you had your first accepted. They have become a lot stricter with the criteria of late. Same goes for the duplicate content. I understand your reason for doing it but AdSense requires unique content.

I do like your site and spent time reading it, not something I often do so I wish you the best of luck.

p.s. I didn't check all your articles so the two I posted as being short were just a sample I found.

Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. I think I finally got to a human being there and they approved the site. So I am now set.

It could be like you mentioned that Google is being incredibly cautious with Aspergers / Autism-related sites now, with all the news that anti-vaccine people are getting. I know that many anti-vaccine sites are being wholly blocked.

I'm not an anti-vaccine person - I believe autism is caused by genetic mutations and that we're making enormous progress in identifying those. Maybe I now have enough of those articles on my site for Google to know my approach.

Thanks!

I agree and I'm glad they are being cautious! (I'm a Rett parent myself so I found some of your articles very interesting).
