Can't customize matched content ad unit

I have a matched content ad unit that is set to responsive layout and I can't customize it's layout based upon the following AdSense help doc: https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/7533385?hl=en#

Here is an example of the ad unit code I am adding to my site:

 <script async src="//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script>
 <ins class="adsbygoogle nolabel"
         style="display:block"
         data-ad-format="autorelaxed"
         data-matched-content-ui-type="image_stacked"
         data-matched-content-rows-num="6,2"
         data-matched-content-columns-num="1,3"
         data-ad-client="CLIENT_ID"
         data-ad-slot="AD_SLOT_ID"></ins>
<script>
     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
</script>

This should layout 6 ads in a list with image stacked over text for mobile and layout 2 rows with 3 ads in columns each with image stacked over text for desktop. I've tried various different dimensions for rows and columns and nothing works.  I keep getting this error:

The parameter length of data-matched-content-ui-type does not match data-matched-content-columns-num

If I remove the data-matched-content-ui-type, data-matched-content-rows-num, data-matched-content-columns-num attributes the matched content displays correctly with 4x2 for desktop and a list on mobile with text aligned right.

Why can't I customize this?  Any help or insights greatly appreciated!

It is necessary to point an additional value for desktop in parameter "data-matched-content-ui-type" separated by comma. For example:
data-matched-content-ui-type="image_stacked,image_stacked"
