Opportunities and experiments

Try out an AdSense Lab

AdSense Labs are experimental features that aren't yet ready to be rolled out to all publishers. For example, a Lab could be a brand new ad format that we're looking to get feedback on. You're welcome to try out these Labs and encouraged to let us know what you think about them.

Before you switch on a Lab, you should be aware of the following:

  • Labs are experimental, they may change, stop working or disappear at any time — please use them at your own risk.
  • The results of Labs may vary — we can't guarantee how much you'll earn from a particular Lab.
  • They won't affect the status of your AdSense account.
  • You can switch them off at any time.

How to enable a Lab

  1. Sign in to your AdSense account.
  2. Click Optimization.
  3. Click Labs.
  4. In the "Available Labs" section, switch on the Lab(s) you're interested in.

Track the performance of a Lab

Some Labs come with reporting capabilities. AdSense creates named custom channels specifically for these Labs, which you can then use to track their performance.

After you enable a Lab, to access the report for that Lab, either:

  • Click View report next to the Lab.

  • Visit your Reports page, click Custom channels in the list of reports, then search for the custom channels that include the Lab in their name (e.g., "AutoRsOriginal", "AutoOptimizeAdSizeVariant", etc.).
Note: You can't edit, remove, or deactivate custom channels that are associated with a Lab.

Why you might not have any Labs

We only show Labs if we determine that they're applicable to your site. If you're interested in trying out a Lab, we recommend that you check your "Labs" page regularly.
