Block advertiser URLs in AdSense

This article is for AdSense publishers only. If you don't have an AdSense account, we recommend you:

You can block specific ads from appearing on your pages. This is helpful when you don't want to display particular ads—for example, you might want to block ads leading to competitors' sites.

You can block ads that link (or, click-through) to specific URLs. This way, you can easily block all ads that are linked to your competitor at www.example.com. By entering a top-level domain such as www.example.com, you'll also block all ads that link to subdirectories below that domain.

You can block a maximum of 25,000 URLs.

Block at the site level

  1. Sign in to your AdSense account.
  2. Click Blocking controls.
  3. Make sure Content is selected.
  4. Under Content, click the site that you want to set the block on.
If your site is not listed, you can add it. Learn how to add a new site to your sites list.
  5. On the Advertiser URLs page, enter the URLs you want to block.

You can separate multiple URLs with commas or hard returns.

  6. Click Block URLs.

Ads from blocked URLs should stop showing on your pages within 24 hours.

Block at the product level

  1. Sign in to your AdSense account.
  2. Click Blocking controls.
  3. Click your product. For example, click Content for AdSense for content.
  4. Click All sites.
  5. On the Advertiser URLs page, enter URLs you want to block.

You can separate multiple URLs with commas or hard returns.

  6. Click Block URLs.

Ads from blocked URLs should stop showing on your pages within 24 hours.

Remember, don't click your own ads to determine their URLs—it's against the Program policies. To view more details about your ads, you can use the Google Publisher Toolbar. The Toolbar lets you check the destination of ads on your pages without the risk of invalid clicks.

Formatting URLs to block ads

The examples below show how a specific URL can either broadly or narrowly block ads from pages. Ads are blocked from URLs marked Cancel, while ads are still eligible to appear on unmarked URLs.
