Using the Google Assistant to find local service providers
The Google Assistant can help you quickly find and connect with local service providers. For example, you can ask the Assistant to “help me find a plumber” or say “I need a house cleaner.” The Assistant will get a few details about your job, then give you options for providers you can connect with.
Getting a list of recommendations
After you’ve asked your Assistant for help finding a provider and have given your job details, you may be given a choice to get a list of recommended providers. If you choose this option, your Assistant will give you recommendations from our network of qualified providers, which includes providers from Local Services by Google, HomeAdvisor, and Porch.
If you’re using a voice-activated speaker like Google Home, you’ll be sent an email allowing you to review the recommendations at your leisure, then hear about each option in order. If you choose to call one of the providers, your Assistant will call directly from your device.
If you’re using the Assistant on a phone, you’ll be given a list of providers that you can tap on to learn more or call. In the event that there aren’t any nearby providers from our network of qualified providers, your Assistant will give you some options from Google Search.
Getting a call from a provider
Sometimes, you may be given the choice to get a call from a provider now, rather than just getting a list of recommendations. If you choose this option, you’ll be asked for your phone number so that the provider is able to reach you.
Your Assistant will then use HomeAdvisor’s pro network to find a top-rated provider who is available to call immediately. Once one is found, your phone will ring within a few minutes and you will be connected with the provider as soon as you pick up.
Today, you can find providers from the following categories:
- House cleaners
- Heating and air conditioning services
- Garage door repair services
- House painters
- Appliance repair services
About provider qualifications
Providers that are recommended by the Assistant may have certain badges indicating their qualifications.
Providers with the “Google Guaranteed” badge are protected by the Google money-back satisfaction guarantee. Learn more about the Google Guarantee.
If you're a provider, you can apply to get the Google Guarantee by signing up for Local Services ads.
Providers with the “HomeAdvisor screened” badge are screened by HomeAdvisor (based on HomeAdvisor’s own screening procedures) using background checks and license validations. Learn more about HomeAdvisor screening.
