About product ratings

When you see ads when you’re searching for products through Google Shopping on google.com and google.com/shopping, you might notice a star rating associated with particular products. These are called product ratings and they’re a way for Google to keep you informed as you shop online.

About product ratings

Here's an example of what product ratings might look like in a Google ad:

Product ratings in Product Listing Ads

Product ratings appear as a 5-star system and include a count of total reviews for the product. We base our product ratings on information from verified sources, including customers, merchants, third party aggregators, and editorial sites. The product ratings you see can include reviews collected by merchants other than the merchant hosting that particular ad.

Keep in mind that product ratings are different than seller ratings, which appear as stars on text ads. Product ratings refer to the product being advertised, while seller ratings refer specifically to the merchant advertising the product.
