I use UMP to manage IDFA message for iOS 14. However, AppStore reviewers reject the default implementation: it seems that it is not allowed to show a custom prompt before the IDFA prompt from iOS 14.

Guideline 5.1.1 - Legal - Privacy - Data Collection and Storage

We noticed that your app urges or manipulates users into granting consent to access the AppTrackingTransparency framework. Specifically, your app displays its own permission request prompt to the user before presenting the iOS permission request.

The permission request process on iOS is designed to give users control of their personal information. It is important to respect the user's decisions about how they want their data used. If they decide to not grant permission to your app, they should not be prompted to change their mind or be forced to reject the request multiple times. You can provide users with additional information about why you’re requesting access to their data before the iOS permission request appears, as long as you don’t include your own custom permission request.

Next Steps

To resolve this issue, please remove any permission requests in your app that appear before the iOS permission request.

Hi Insraq, glad I caught your message as I'm working through the set up of GMA and UMP to provide all the different consents that are now required.  I have not yet followed through on creating messages in UMP but am reading through all the documents and wondered about what would be encountered.  So with the Explainer Message; are the actionable buttons, Allow Tracking/I'll decide later, customizable to have only one and read only "Next" so user proceeds to the iOS ATT message?  Or, is this Explainer Message always going to be a problem appearing before the iOS message?  In reading the GMA iOS set-up Prepare for iOS 14+, Request App Tracking Transparency authorization, we're able to add a custom message to the ATT Alert by making a manual request and adding the message to the NSUserTrackingUsageDescription key. Given what you experienced it looks like forgoing an Explainer Message from the UMP and using the manual method might be the solution if the UMP Explainer Message can't be customized to remove the actionable buttons or change their text to remove the "request" call and make them just close that message and proceed to iOS ATT Message.  What soluton have you determined?
Best of luck,
Tom

I'm facing the same problem using UMP, I even tried replacing the default text with a simple text "Ads help support our business" and just one button "Continue", so not even mentioning tracking, but got rejected with the same explanation...

I am having the same issue as @Bart
So what will be the solution?

Do we need to remove the IDFA message or should reply to apple app reviewers?
