Ad status

The Status column on the Ads tab of each app tells you whether or not an ad is active and the reason for its status. The status of an ad reflects changes that you make to that ad or its campaign and whether or not that ad's been approved based on AdWords policies.

Some statuses are set by AdMob (e.g., when an ad violates our advertising policies) while others are set by you (e.g., when you pause or delete an ad).

Where to find your ad status

Complete the following steps to check the status of your ads.

  1. Sign in to your AdMob account at https://apps.admob.com.
  2. Click the Promote tab.
  3. Under All apps on the left-hand side, select the app you want to look at.
  4. Click the Ads tab.A screenshot of the Ads tab for an app in AdMob.
  5. Look at the Status column to see the ad's status.

Understand your ad status

Type Status What it means
Ad status Paused Inactive because you paused it. Pausing an ad means that your ads don't show or accumulate new costs until resumed. You'll see 'Campaign paused' if you paused the campaign that contains this ad. Even when ads are paused, they're subject to review. We review paused ads to ensure that they comply with AdWords policies and applicable laws, and also so that ads that do get approved while under review can run as soon as you unpause them.
Pending Inactive but scheduled to begin at a future date.
Ended Inactive because it's past its scheduled end date.
Deleted Inactive because you deleted it. Deleting an ad means that ads don't show or accumulate new costs until re-enabled.
Limited by budget Active, but showing ads only occasionally due to budget constraints.
Campaign status Campaign paused Inactive because you paused the campaign that contains this ad.
Campaign pending Inactive because the campaign that contains this ad is pending.
Campaign ended Inactive because the campaign that contains this ad has ended.
Campaign deleted Inactive because you deleted the campaign that contains this ad.
Approval status Under review Inactive because ad is still being reviewed. Ad cannot show until it's been approved.
Eligible Ad is still being reviewed, but can appear on Google search result pages.
Auto Approved Ad complies with our policies and is allowed to show for all audiences. (House ads only)
Approved (non-family) Ad can run, but not in all situations due to restrictions on content that we consider 'non-family safe.'
Approved (adult) Ad can run, but not in all situations due to restrictions on adult content.
Approved (limited) Ad can run, but not in all situations due to policy restrictions such as those around trademark use and gambling ads.
Disapproved Inactive because the ad violates AdWords policy.
Suspended Inactive because the app it promotes violates AdWords policy.
