In-article and in-feed video ads

Set up in-article & in-feed video ads

Requirements for programmatic, reservation, and Open Bidding campaigns

Programmatic campaigns

In-article and in-feed video ads can be served via dynamic allocation and are also available with Open Auction, Preferred Deals, Private Auctions, and Programmatic Guaranteed. Learn more about transaction types.

Dynamic allocation requirements

Level Requirements
Network
Line item
  • A display line item must be used.
  • A display size must be targeted in the line item (for example, 300x250).

Ad Manager looks at all sizes to determine eligibility of in-article and in-feed video and uses the largest of the eligible for rendering (based on aspect ratio and minimum height and width).

  • Additional constraints may make in-article and in-feed video ineligible. For example, if the ad is in the right or left rail, then Ad Manager may send the request without an out-stream placement signal.

Reservation campaigns

In-article and in-feed video ads can be served to reserved inventory in Ad Manager. You do not need to enable the "Video" ad experience control to serve this video format to reserved inventory.

  • Line items can be configured to target both in-stream and out-stream video formats.

Open Bidding

You can request in-article and in-feed video ads from third-party exchanges with Open Bidding.

When you set up a video yield group, you should choose Banner as the ad format, and Web as the inventory type. Target the inventory that you've enabled for out-stream video, and add a yield partner that supports out-stream video demand.

If an ad slot is eligible for out-stream video, Open Bidding requests may contain both video and display. If the buyer is not opted out of bid flattening, exchanges receive separate requests for video and display
