Traffic native ads in AMPHTML

You can serve fixed size native AMPTHML ads. AMPHTML ads let publishers, marketers, and technology providers to deliver faster, lighter, and more secure ad experiences across all platforms by applying the principles of AMP to building and serving ads.

  • For traditional native ads, select an AMP setting in the HTML & CSS editor.
  • For programmatic native ads, you don’t need to do anything. Google Ad Manager will automatically render fixed size programmatic native ads as AMPHTML ads on AMP pages.

Get started

Use the regular process to create native ads using the HTML & CSS editor, and select the AMP or Standard & AMP rendering type to style your ad with AMPHTML.

  1. Navigate to the Native HTML & CSS editor.
  2. Choose your ad settings.
    To use this feature, you need to select a fixed ad size (such as 320x50).
  3. Style your native ad.
    In the “Rendering type” dropdown, select AMP or Standard & AMP.
    • Standard (default): Native ads will work across desktop web, mobile web, and mobile apps. Native ads will also work on AMP content but won’t be as fast as selecting an AMPHTML option.
    • AMP: AMP ads use AMPHTML and are specifically designed to be faster on AMP content, but they will also serve on standard content.
    • Standard & AMP: Add separate code to produce either version of the native ad. Google Ad Manager will serve the AMPHTML version on AMP content and the standard version on standard content.
  4. Enter AMPHTML and CSS in the right panel.

    You’ll only be able to save the style if the AMPHTML;/CSS is AMP-compliant. Here's a valid sample of AMPHTML:

    <h1>[%Title%]</h1>
    <a href=%%CLICK_URL_UNESC%%[%destination_url%]>
    <amp-img src=[%image_url%] width=320 height=50></amp-img>
    </a>

  5. Click Save and Finish.
  6. When a query is capable of rendering an AMPHTML ad, this variant of the ad will serve.
