Publisher profiles can be found under Sales and then Deals settings and allow your network's inventory to be discovered in the Marketplace. The Marketplace provides a shopping-like experience for buyers to strike deals on inventory they find interesting. Buyers can start negotiation with your network for Programmatic Guaranteed, Preferred Deal, and Private Auction campaigns.

Publisher profiles

Every network has a parent publisher profile that represents all the inventory for a network. The initial state of a parent publisher profile is unpublished. You can edit, save, and preview a parent profile as many times as you want. Once you publish a parent profile, it cannot be unpublished. To remove your network from the Marketplace completely, you can change your buyer visibility settings

Child publisher profiles are optional. They can be created with unique descriptions and marketing to brand different  inventory across your network. For instance, you might own and operate a website for sports apparel and another for business attire. You can brand both these properties differently with different profiles. 

Like parent publish profiles, you can edit, save, and preview child profiles as many times as you want. Unlike parent publisher profiles, child profiles can be unpublished at any time.

Publisher information

All profiles contain the following publisher information:

  • Name
  • Domains associated with a profile
  • Logo
  • Contact information
  • Description of inventory and why a buyer might want to partner with you
  • Audience

Publisher information appears under a "Profile" tab. In addition, an "Overview" tab shows forecasted impressions for domains associated with a profile. Learn more about forecast overviews.

Name

The profile name visible to buyers in the Marketplace. A parent publisher profile contains your network name by default. Your network name is configured under Admin and then Global settings and then Network settings. Profile names can be unique from network name and updated at any time. 

Domains

Domains represent the inventory you are authorized to sell. 

  • Most publishers configure domains from Inventory and then URLs
  • Scaled Partner Management publishers configure domains via Admin and then Scaled partner management and then Domains. You must declare domains before use. Domains classified as "Blocked" are not available to display in profiles.

A parent publisher profile is associated with all domains configured with your network. Domains aren't listed in a parent profile in Ad Manager, so can't be removed or edited directly from a parent profile. To remove or change a domain associated with a parent profile, configure domains from your network settings.

Child publisher profiles can represent any subset of domains that you configured for your network. Domains in a child profile can be added or removed at any time. 

Domains are displayed only in child profiles, not parent profiles. When displayed, only domains are shown in a child publisher profile, not entire URLs. For example, supposed you configure the following URLs in your network:

website.com/classifieds
website.com/travel
website.com/politics

Only "website.com" would be available to add to a child profile and shown to buyers in the Marketplace. 

Domains are used in forecast overviews. For a parent profile, forecasts are based on all domains configured in your network. For child profiles, forecasts are based on domains added to a child profile. 

Child profiles and mobile apps

Child profiles for mobile apps, where the traffic exclusively serves from mobile apps and not domains, do not appear in the Marketplace. Child profiles must have traffic that serves from domains (websites) in order to appear in the Marketplace. 

An optional logo to brand your parent profile, representing all the domains in your network, or to brand child profiles differently, can be uploaded.

Images file types can be either PNG, GIF, or JPG/JPEG. A 160x160 pixel image is recommended. Test the image to ensure it renders well as a 50x50 pixel thumbnail. Brand name does not need to be included in the logo as the name specified for the profile is always visible near the logo image in a profile.

Message to buyers

This section allows you to summarize your network or brands. Remember to frame your message to buyers in relation to the domains associated with a given profile. Buyers will read this to determine weather or not to do business with your network or brands.

The fields in this section help you frame your message to buyers. Below are suggested uses for each header.

  • Introduction: Describe the general business of your network or brand, along with the kind of content your network or brand publishes.
  • Why do business with us: Describe what's unique about your business or brands, why you're different from others who are in a similar business or publish similar content. You might include what buyers can achieve by partnering with you, what unique audiences you can reach, past successes, or any other benefits to attract buyers.
  • Headlines: Big achievements, statistics or metrics that can attract buyers, such as "Rated a Top-10 News Site" or "#1 Gaming Site for 20 Straight Months". Short, catchy expressions you want buyers to remember and takeaway with them.

A URL that is representative of the content for your network or brand.

Audience

Additional information about the users who visit the domains associated the profile.

Contact information

Enter contact information, such as phone numbers and email addresses, directly into the fields. You may also consider a link to a page with contact information.

This section also allows you to specify "Marketing and sales materials", where you can link to more information and a rate card if desired.

Manage profiles

To find publisher profiles, navigate to Sales and then Deals settings and look for the "Publisher profile" section.

To create or edit a publisher profile:

  1. Sign in to Google Ad Manager.
  2. Navigate to Sales and then Deals settings.
  3. Find the "Publisher profiles" section.
    • To create a new profile, click New profile and fill in the details.
    • To edit a profile, click on its name and modify the details.
  4. Click Save.

Changes are published to the Marketplace if the state of the profile is "Published" and may take from 30 to 60 minutes to populate. From the details page of a profile, click Preview to see what your profile looks like to buyers in the Marketplace.

To publish or unpublish a child profile:

Toggle between "Published" and "Unpublished" under the "State" column. Once you publish a parent profile, it cannot be unpublished. To remove your network from the Marketplace completely, you can change your buyer visibility settings.

Buyer visibility and notifications

No profile is visible in the Marketplace as long as buyer visibility is set to "No buyers can make offers to you". If your visibility is set otherwise, then buyers can discover your publisher profile in the Marketplace.

Options for buyer visibility include:

  • All buyers can make offers to you (recommended)
  • No buyers can make offers to you
  • Only buyers you specify can make offers to you
  • All buyers except those you specify can make offers to you

Be sure to specify buyers under the "Only buyers you specify can make offers to you" option otherwise your profiles won't be discoverable. If you don't add buyers under the "All buyers except those you specify can make offers to you" option, then all buyers can make offers to you.

Email notifications

Under "Notifications", enter emails or group aliases. The email or group aliases are added by default under "Seller contacts" for RFPs only. Notifications are sent to emails under "Seller contacts" when important events occur during negotiation. You can later change the seller contacts specified in RFPs.

If you don't enter emails or group aliases, nobody in your network will be notified via email when a buyer wants to start negotiation with your network.

Forecast overviews

A 7-day impression forecast is visible to buyers under a separate "Overview" tab. The "Overview" tab shows an impression forecast aggregated for all domains associated with a profile. In the case of a parent publisher profile, it's all domains/URLs in your network which you are authorized to sell. 

Impressions are broken down by data points like:

  • Demographics (gender, age, and geographic location) of visitors to your digital properties
  • Top sites and apps in terms of impressions
  • Verticals defined on your digital properties (for example,  "Art & Entertainment", "Science", "Home & Garden") 
  • Format (video, display) and device (mobile, tablet)

This information helps buyers determine if your network is a good fit for their ad campaigns. Here's a sample of what buyers see:

Forecast overviews can be visible for unpublished parent profiles

Setting buyer visibility to anything other than "No buyers can make offers to you" makes the "Overview" tab for your parent profile visible to buyers—even if your parent profile is not yet published. In such a case, the name displayed in the Marketplace for your parent profile is the "Network display name" as set under Admin and then Global settings and then Network settings.

Best practice suggests, therefore, that you keep buyer visibility set to "No buyers can make offers to you" until you publish your parent profile.

When a child publisher profile is unpublished, that profile and its "Overview" tab is completely removed from the Marketplace.
